In one of the biggest upsets of the night of the UFC Fight Night held in Mexico, Lone'er Kavanagh defeated two-time champion Brandon Moreno by unanimous decision in the main event. Kavanagh, who accepted the fight on short notice after an injury to his original opponent, showed a clear and effective fight plan, punishing with leg kicks and precise combinations for most of the five rounds. Despite Moreno attempting several changes of pace and pressing with grappling in the third round, he failed to break the scorecards, which ended 49–46 and 48–47 (x2) in favor of the Briton. This victory places Kavanagh as a serious contender in the flyweight division and could catapult him to greater opportunities in 2026, while Moreno receives heavy criticism for losing on home soil.
