Ronda Rousey officially confirmed her return to mixed martial arts after nearly a decade of retirement, announcing that she will compete again on May 16, 2026 in a historic bout against Gina Carano. The event, promoted by Most Valuable Promotions and streamed exclusively on Netflix, will mark the platform's first global live MMA broadcast. Rousey, a pioneer of women's sports and the first woman signed by UFC, said this was the only fight she would agree to return for, describing it as "the biggest super fight in the history of women's sports." For her part, Carano — also retired since 2009 — stated that she accepted the proposal out of respect for Rousey's career and the importance of the confrontation for the MMA community. The duel will be played at featherweight (145 pounds), under the Unified Rules of MMA, agreed to five rounds of five minutes inside a hexagonal cage. Both competitors arrive with a huge legacy: Rousey with six consecutive defenses of the UFC title and Carano as one of the first figures to bring women's sports to national television. [1]
