Spanish fighter Eduardo Riego has generated debate within the national MMA scene after his statements in an interview with journalist Enrique Gimeno. During the conversation, the fighter from Castellón said that he has been trying to close a fight against Enoc Solves for some time, but that the confrontation never ends up materializing.
According to Riego, from his point of view Solves is not interested in accepting the fight. The fighter stated that on several occasions he has been available to face him and that he considers that it would be a very attractive fight for the Spanish public, but that negotiations have never advanced.
During the interview, Riego also addressed the issue of doping within the sport. The fighter assured that he has always competed fair and that he defends the importance of maintaining mixed martial arts as a fair sport. In this context, he recalled that Enoc Solves previously tested positive in an anti-doping control in a grappling fight, something that according to Riego is part of the competitive history of his possible opponent.
The Castellón native insisted that he has always defended competing without external help and that he is willing to face any opponent under the same conditions. Despite the criticism and tension generated by these statements, Riego reiterated that he would be willing to accept the fight if it is finally organized.
The fighter's words have caused debate among fans on social networks, since both fighters have been competing on the national MMA scene for many years and a confrontation between them would be one of the most talked about fights on the Spanish circuit.
