The Professional Fighters League held one of the most important events of the year for the organization in Madrid with a full card at the Palacio Vistalegre. The evening was headlined by the defense of the middleweight title between Costello van Steenis and Fabian Edwards, in a rematch that generated great expectation among European fans.
In the main event, Costello van Steenis successfully defended his belt after defeating Fabian Edwards by technical knockout in the third round. The champion took advantage of a failed knockdown attempt by Edwards to punish him with a series of elbows on the ground that forced the referee to stop the fight. The victory confirmed the Dutch fighter's dominance over Edwards, whom he had previously defeated in Bellator.
The co-main event pits two well-known names on the international scene against each other: AJ McKee and Adam Borics. The American, a former Bellator champion, claimed the victory via unanimous decision after controlling the fight for all three rounds, combining his striking with well-timed takedowns. McKee even competed with a dislocated toe for part of the fight, adding drama to the matchup.
The main card also included Franco Tenaglia's victory over Yassin Najid via TKO in the second round, as well as Jacinta Austin's triumph over Benita Van Rooij via TKO in the first round. Another standout bout was the duel between Linton Vassell and Jose Augusto, which ended with a victory for Vassell via technical knockout in the second round.
In the preliminary fights, there were also several endings before the limit. Luciano Pereira got a spectacular knockout in the first round against Kevin Cordero, while Borja García won by unanimous decision against Rafael Calderón in a very technical fight. Another highlight came with Gino van Steenis' knockout of Mark Ewen in the first round.
The rest of the card left victories for Mattia Giordano, Claudio Pacella and Ignacio Campos, all of them by decision after hotly contested fights. In total, the event included twelve fights and consolidated the presence of the PFL in Spain, on a night that brought together thousands of fans in Madrid and marks an important step in the European expansion of the organization.
