The world of mixed martial arts is in mourning. Allan Nascimento, a Brazilian fighter from UFC known by many fans as "Puro Osso", has died at the age of 34, news that has shocked teammates, coaches and followers of this sport.
Nascimento built a career based on effort and perseverance. Before arriving at UFC he had already made a name for himself on the Brazilian circuit thanks to a very technical style, especially dangerous on the ground, where he won a good part of his victories by submission.
His opportunity in the elite came after participating in Dana White's Contender Series. Although he did not get the contract right away that night, he continued to work until he ended up being part of the UFC roster, where he played several matches and left performances that allowed him to earn the respect of the company and the fans.
Beyond the results, Allan was a fighter who conveyed humility inside and outside the octagon. He was never one of the most mediatic names in the division, but he was one of those professionals whose work ethic was recognized by teammates and coaches.
His death has caused an immediate wave of messages of affection from the entire MMA community. Training partners, fighters from different organizations and fans wanted to remember not only the athlete, but also the person behind the gloves.
The news is once again a reminder of how fragile life can be, even for elite athletes who dedicate every day to taking care of their bodies and competing at the highest level. In a sport used to talking about victories, defeats and championships, days like this serve to remind us that there are things much more important than any belt.
From MMA Legion we want to convey our most sincere condolences to Allan Nascimento's family, his friends, his teammates and all the people who shared part of his journey. Rest in peace.
