Spanish mixed martial arts continues to experience the best moment in its history. The UFC will have a new national representative after confirming the signing of Fabià Sintes, who will make his debut at the UFC Paris 2026 after completing a brilliant stage at WOW FC, where he established himself as flyweight champion and one of the most solid talents on the European scene.
The arrival of Sintes is a new step forward for Spanish MMA. Just a few years ago it seemed unthinkable to see several national wrestlers sharing the bill in the largest organization in the world, but the growth of the sport in Spain has completely changed the panorama. The international success of Ilia Topuria opened a door that other names are now beginning to cross called to consolidate the country's level in the elite.
The Menorcan lands in the UFC at the best moment of his professional career. His record, built over years competing both in Spain and in international promotions, reflects a constant evolution and a clear competitive maturity. Beyond the numbers, what has convinced the American organization has been the way in which it has been growing fight after fight.
His time at WOW FC has been particularly brilliant.
In June 2025 he won the flyweight belt after beating Davi Santos in a five-round bout that confirmed that he was ready to assume the role of champion. From that moment on, a stage of dominance began within the Spanish organization.
The first defense came against Amir Malekpour. Sintes once again showed that he knows how to adapt to any scenario and ended up winning by submission in the third round, further expanding his reputation as one of the most complete fighters in the category.
His last appearance at WOW also left no room for doubt. At WOW 28 he defended the belt again against Abdul Karim Badakhshi, ending the fight with a rear naked choke in the third round after controlling much of the confrontation. With that victory he signed his second consecutive defense of the title and definitively strengthened his candidacy to make the international leap.
Precisely that progression is one of the great virtues of the Spaniard.
This is not a fighter who has come to UFC by an isolated victory or by a media phenomenon. Sintes has built his opportunity by linking very solid performances against increasingly demanding opponents and demonstrating a constant evolution in all areas of combat.
His style also fits especially well with the flyweight division.
He is a very tactically organized fighter, with good distance control, increasingly refined grappling and a remarkable ability to find finishes when the fight reaches the ground. A good part of his victories as a professional have come by submission, a sign of the danger he represents when he manages to impose his fight.
The debut in UFC Paris will not be easy.
His debut already has a confirmed opponent. Fabià Sintes will face the Jordanian Michael Aljarouj in a fight that will be the first step of the Menorcan within the largest MMA organization in the world. Aljarouj also arrives with experience on the international circuit, so the Spaniard will have a demanding test from his first appearance in the octagon.
The match will immediately serve to measure Sintes' true level against an opponent accustomed to competing outside of Spain. A victory on a stage like UFC Paris would be a huge boost to start making a name for itself within one of the company's most competitive divisions.
The organization usually takes advantage of these European events to face established talents from the continent, so it is foreseeable that Sintes will have a first high-level test. Even so, competing on a card held in Europe can also play in his favor, reducing the impact of the trip and allowing him to fight in a much more familiar environment than a direct premiere in the United States.
His incorporation also confirms the excellent moment that Spanish MMA are going through.
In recent years, the competitive level has grown evidently thanks to the development of national promotions, the professionalization of gyms and the emergence of a new generation of fighters capable of competing head-to-head with international rivals. WOW FC has played a key role in that growth, offering a top-notch showcase for many talents who aspire to reach the UFC.
Now it's Fabià Sintes' turn.
After conquering and defending the WOW belt, the Menorcan faces the biggest challenge of his career. The jump to UFC always means a radical change in the level of competition, but few arrive with such a solid trajectory and with such a clear progression as the one he has shown during the last two seasons.
Spain thus adds a new representative in the largest MMA organization on the planet and a new illusion for a fan base that continues to see how national talent gains more and more prominence in the world elite.
